8 Modifying the /etc/system file
Any changes to the /etc/system file require a reboot in order to take effect.
All Emulex LP9002 systems:
set sd:sd_max_throttle=20
set scsi_options=0x7F8
EMC PowerPath /etc/system entry
Installed set sd:sd_io_time = 0x78
Not installed set sd:sd_io_time = 0x3C
9 Rebooting the system
Now that the Emulex LP9002 HBA driver has been installed, the lpfc.conf or lpfs.conf
modified and appropriate entries added to the sd.conf and /etc/system file, the host can
be rebooted. This reboot must take place for the HBA driver to be loaded and the
instances created. Both the firmware and fcode upgrades cannot be performed until the
HBA instances have been instantiated.
10 Upgrading the LP9002 Firmware
Important Note: Upgrading the firmware overwrites a section of the fcode,
therefore, it must be followed immediately by an fcode upgrade,
or by reloading the existing fcode image.
Important Note: During the upgrade process, no I/O must be being processed by
the HBA. Failure to stop I/O whilst upgrading the firmware or
fcode images can lead to a non-functioning HBA due to image
corruption.
