4 Installing the LP9002 Driver Package

The Emulex LP9002 HBA driver package can be downloaded from the Emulex web

site (www.emulex.com) by following the ‘Drivers, software and manuals’ link and then

selecting the ‘EMC Drivers, Software and Manuals’ link.

Both the LP9002S (SBus) and LP9002L (PCI) packages are distributed as a tar file that

has to be un-tarred before it can be installed:

PCI

tar –xvf lpfc.conf

SBus

tar –xvf lpfs.conf

Once un-tarred, the package can be installed using pkgadd:

# pkgadd –d .

Select package(s) you wish to process (or ’all’ to

process all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:

Press ENTER, to accept the default.

Lpfc (or Lpfs) driver directory (default /kernel/drv) [?]:

Press ENTER, to accept the default.

Lpfc (or Lpfs) manpage directory (default /usr/man/man7d) [?]:

Press ENTER, to accept the default.

Rebuild manual pages database for section 7d [y,n,?]:

Press ‘y’ to rebuild the manual pages.

Use IP networking over Fibre Channel [y,n,?]:

Press ‘n’ to disable IP networking through the Emulex card.

Do you want to continue with the installation of Lpfc

(or Lpfs) manpage dir [y,n,?]:

Press Y to confirm the installation.

The installation package continues the installation. When it

finishes, you are prompted:

Select package(s) you wish to process (or ’all’ to

process all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:

Press ‘q’ to quit the installation package.

The following appears:

***IMPORTANT NOTICE ***

This machine must now be rebooted in order to ensure

safe operation.
